Micro-Biography

“Magic Man” Brad Hatcher is much more than a Professional Magician and Clown. He is a college-educated Youth Leader and Recreation Manager. After receiving his degree in Youth Leadership and Recreation Management from Brigham Young University, Brad spent over two years as a District Executive for the Western Los Angeles County Council of the Boy Scouts of America. His district included more than 2,000 boy members and 600 adult leaders.

Brad uses his training to demonstrate leadership in his magic, juggling and clowning performances, being able to captivate audiences from two year-olds to one hundred and two year-olds plus. Magic and juggling have been his hobby since he was a young boy. After moving to Idaho in 1989 his hobby began to emerge as a professional interest. For the first few years he entertained at a few private parties and company picnics. Entertaining was so rewarding to Brad that he “jumped in with both feet”, and has been appearing at a wide variety of events as professional magician “Magic Man Brad Hatcher” or as “Magic the Clown” ever since.

Brad jokes that he has an identity crisis with his two characters, although magical illusions are the common thread that unite them. He feels that his youth and recreation education plus being a professional magician gives him a special edge over most other clowns. Brad's ability to perform for audiences in either of two languages (English and Spanish) makes him an especially valuable member of the ABCo Entertainment team.

Among Brad's other skills is balloon sculpting. Filling in weekday evenings at various dining establishments in the Treasure Valley, he demonstrates his large repertoire of balloon designs and his amazing speed at creating them. (75 balloon sculptures in just one hour!) Brad carries six different types of balloons plus some other fun accessories in his waist belt for turning out some of the most awesome balloon creations you have ever seen.

Members of his audiences have a chance to participate in more ways than magic and balloons! Brad enjoys teaching people how to juggle in just a few minutes, even with no previous experience. With one of the volunteer's arms and one of Brad's arms they begin juggling three balls between them, and can work up to using both arms with six balls total. Sometimes Brad even uses both of his arms and one arm from each of two volunteers for juggling six balls.

In order to serve repeat audiences, Brad has developed several different shows. He does astounding magic with ropes, coins, cards, scarves, levitation, vanishes, appearances, and so on. He is sometimes assisted by `Rusty' the pet fox who comes to life for the show. Rusty often does a few jokes, and always allows people to pet him.

If it is good, clean, spellbinding, family-quality entertainment you are looking for, you have definitely found it with “Magic Man” Brad Hatcher!
